But you get so tired… Hehe!

Yeah, I know. I don’t really like to get into drag but I do it anyway from time to time. I am just glad I don’t have to wear a wig this time around. The terrible thing is I still have to put on some pasty makeup and an eyebrow-liner that makes me look like a terrible drag version of Joan Crawford.
Anyway, Jean Mei conceptualised the whole thing of putting on a show for Tsem Rinpoche’s birthday. And all I had to do was to memorize the lines. I was given the role of Blanche. Pastor Jean Ai did the sound effects and my partner in crime or should I say, sister in crime, Pastor Moh Mei, was my counterpart, Baby Jane Hudson. We just had a couple of hours of reciting the lines and getting into the dress, makeup and all.
Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? is a cult classic movie from the 1960s. It has aging legend Bette Davis and Joan Crawford battling it out on screen, bringing an unparalleled on-screen chemistry to the movie. Anyway, we decided to play that famous scene – “But you are, Blanche! You are in that chair!” By the way, this is not my first time playing this role. I did it before with Sarah Yap sans makeup and dress and you can watch it here – http://www.davidlai.me/2012/09/28/1288/ (watch 2:57 for my scene)
You can click here to watch the actual skit being played out in front of Rinpoche here – http://www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/funnies/youre-going-to-laugh-so-hard.html )
You guys are just so good! Bette and Joan would have been proud.:)
